Book Club

I am so excited that we are finally getting around to starting a book club. My friends and I have been talking about this for so long and we have finaly settled on a book and a date. I am excited!

New "Katie-do"

I am really tempted to cut my hair short again a la the current Katie Holmes hairdo. I have had long hair for a few years and now that I am back to working in an office environment I am so wishing for he short hair again. I just want to avoid that look of "big body, little head".

Love Dip

I just stole this recipe from another blogger *I Heart You*. I cant't wait to try it- it sounds sooo good. Of course, I could eat an entire batch of dip in one sitting. I really love dip.

Love Dip

Ingredients:

1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup tomato salsa

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1/8 teaspoon white pepper

1 teaspoon minced garlic

1/4 teaspoon crumbled dried tarragon or 2 leaves fresh tarragon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon chopped cilantro

1/8 teaspoon lemon juice

Mix all ingredients in a blender until smooth, except the lemon juice. Once mixed, add lemon juice to taste. Serve with crackers, crudité or tortilla chips.

My Most Excellent Year

I just finished reading My Most Excellent Year: A Novel of Love, Mary Poppins, & Fenway Park by Steve Kluger. I love this book--as long as you can overlook the teenage character discovering his homosexuality, then this is a must read. It is one of those books that grabs you from the first chapter and sucks you in so that you don't even want to put it down. In the book you meet high school Juniors Alejandra, Augie and TC who are struggling with first loves, independence and friendship as we all did in high school.

"Summer Cleaning"...of the closet, that is

In this month's Domino- there's a great article about cleaning out your closet and keeping only the pieces that really work for you and purchasing additional pieces to complete your wardrobe. Check out the artice and also the little video that goes along with the writer and the consultants she hired to help her do the "summer cleaning" of the closet. Of course, not all of us has the money to ire stylists, but the tips that they give are great. I don't know about you, but I'm inspired for the Summer overhaul.

Food and Wine Magazine

I was so thrilled with a gift of an Amazon gift certificate this year and one of the things I bought with it was a subscription to Food and Wine magazine. I received my first issue on Friday and I am already planning some delicious menus. This issue is the 30th Anniversary issue with the best recipes from the past. There is a recipe for Once a Year Cheesecake Ice Cream that I just have to try and way too many others to name. You must check it out!
